I recently made the purchase of a new HTR. LOVE IT. First outing was the R100 in Sparta this past weekend. I am struggling a bit with the new Focus grip. Can anyone give me some pointers to make my patters more consistent? I do like the way it feels in my hand but in moving from the traditional grip on my old Z7, I am wondering if I am needing to grip it differently. People I have talked to swear by it. I think I just need some advice.

The focus grip is suppose to lessen torque. I'm getting used to it too. I can't say that it helps or hurts my shooting, though. Might switch it out with the traditional wood grip.

I have been shooting a focus grip since I got my Creed XS in Tactical, then of course the NOCAM... I love it, but yea the advice in that article Justin posted is great, hope everyone looks at it if you have ever questioned your own form. Spot On!

I love the focus grip as well. I've always been fond of the slimmer grips. Its natural to me to allow the grip to sit right in the life line of your hand and just relax the fingers or slightly curled around the grip at full draw.

The focus grip in my mind is far superior. Less surface contact to hand = less torque I find it rather humorous that you use to have to pay extra for a focus grip on a Mathews. Now focus grips are standard and you have to pay extra for a wood grip... Figures....

Nothings free and you can't please everyone! Btw I do love the focus grip. Took some getting used to compared to my Mission Venture, however I think it allows me to be a better shooter! :tu:

I shaved mine down so it's flat. I liked it at first but then I didn't like it so much after a few weeks.

The article is great. I think that the raised line is the one thing I will appreciate the most. Even in the coldest MN weather, I seldom wear gloves at the moment of truth. It will be great to have that grip in the same location. I teach Centershot. You think I would take my own advice about hand placement... HA!
