So I decided I was gonna hop in the duck boat run down the river to my land and check the cameras. Also was reminded I needed to kill a wasp nest in a box blind. So I figured I would launch the boat at my house run 5 min down river to my farm. But all those plans came to a halt. I went to take the cover off the boat and tons of wasps came flyin out and stung the sh*t out of me. Now my question is do I just man up and take the cover off as fast as I can or is there a less pain full way? Sent from my arrow using Mathews!
had the same problem under my back porch... draped a tarp over it (ya already have on over the boat) to keep the stuff from blowing away in the wind.. then drop a couple of bug bombs under it... then run like hell cause ya just pissed em all off
What he said, it has worked to get wasps and bees out of box blinds for me. Don't come back for at least 4 hours.
Well I got about 1/2 of the cover off and the ones I didn't kill on the nests are flying around madder then hell. I have a feeling the 2nd half is gonna be the pain full part... Sent from my arrow using Mathews!
Throw on a second layer, with gloves and something to cover head and face, leave nothing exposed. Go in armed with a couple cans of hornet and wasp spray, and pull the cover all the way off. Than spray what ever you see. Try to do it at dusk as they will not be as active.
You can go to a parts store and buy a can of belt dressing, put on a long sleeve shirt, gloves a hat and a balaclava and safety glasses/goggles...yank the cover back and start spraying them in the air. The belt dressing is super sticky and will knock them out of the air on contact and then you can just smash'em. Should be good to go.
Went in with a can of wasp killer in both hands killed what was on the nest. Now I gotta go tango with them Danm paper wasps in the box blind. Think in gonna go get some of them bug bombs! Sent from my arrow using Mathews!
Lol oh it'll work and I have taken a similar approach in the past..... More than once. Still, I want to watch
I leaned how effective it is by having to deal with a huge wasp nest in a dozer that had been sitting a mile back in the brush for two months once. All I had was a can of belt dressing and a can of penetrating oil. The penetrating oil worked but they had to be soaked in it, the belt dressing however made their wings too heavy to work and they dropped off the nest and out of the air like they'd been nuked. I've used it several times since then and generally the only time I get stung is before I realize there's a nest around. I got toxic poisoning one time when I was a kid from spraying a malathion based wasp spray so I'm happy to use something that's non-toxic or less toxic than a standard wasp spray whenever I can.
