Last year I used G5 striker 100 gr broadheads mostly because I was only pulling about 53 pounds. I have gotten a new bow and am shooting 60lbs at about 282 fps and 53 KE. I am wondering if i should stick to the broadheads I was using or look into Rage broadheads? From what I've read Rage broadheads are great if your shooting fast enough. Would this set up work with the regular 2 blade Rages? Thanks!

IMO I'd stick with your fixed blades. Especially if you haven't had any issues shooting them.

It's not about speed for expandable heads but more kinetic energy and momentum. I shoot my hypodermics about 294 fps and my ke is about 75 ft lbs. I don't know my momentum because the app I use its not working now. I hear that single bevels will do better than expandable heads if you get good ones. I would try those out but I'm going to use my last two broadheads this season.

like fitz said if you haven't had any issues continue to shoot the strikers. I use the carbon express xt-4 but everyone has their preference.

You must be shooting a very light arrow (about 300 grains) if you are getting 282 FPS but only 53 ft/lbs of KE. Like others have said, stick with the fixed blade head. The deployment of mech blades sucks up a lot of KE. If you must, then perhaps the low KE rage is what I would suggest.

I would suggest boosting your projectile weight as you will increase your KE and MO and drive up the efficiency of your bow and drive down the vibe and noise (not to mention longer sting life)

Add 100 grain for the tip. 385.3 grains. I have a 391 grain arrow with the tip but I added a 20 grain weight to the insert.

Can you elaborate about the weight you added? I was looking to increase the FOC on my Maxima Red 350 but don't want to change out the insert.

OP- I'm shooting Strikers as well. Been happy with them. In my opinion is stick with those til they give you a reason to change.

The Gold tip arrows use a threaded insert up front, You can add weight to the back by using a long allen wrench and thier weights, They are called fact weights and come in various weights, they can also be stacked. I added 20 grains to my gold tip Pro Hunters to get up to 401 grains.

You have to add the point weight. So if you use 100 grains, your weight is around 385 grains and you need to use that number in your KE calculation. Your KE is not 53 but closer to 68 ft/lbs of KE with .482 momentum.
