They have pretty good battery life is the best thing I have to say about them. I'm not that impressed with mine overall but I've seen worse cameras.

I don't have the MP8 Black but I do have a Black 60 and I'm not to impressed with the night pics. If all you're after is inventory it should work fine for you.

I like mine. No complaints. Amazon had it on sale in March I picked it up for 105 free shipping.

I've got a mp 6 and 8 IR....what do you think about the black model Sam? As long as it takes decent pi s at night I'm fine. I just have had great luck with coverts, so I'm staying with them

I have a few MP8's and a few MP8 Blacks. I really like them both. However, I will agree that the regular IR takes better night time pics. Even when I compare my Black 60's and Red 40's. Maybe something to do with the film on the IR? Either way, I'm happy

My mp6 black takes terrible night and early morning and evening pictures.

I like my mp8 black. It doesn't take picutres at night as far as my red 40 but that chalks up to the blackout of leds. I like the mp8 black better to put on game trails rather than a low glow led.

The 2012 Red40 still is my all time favorite camera but the MP8 Black is probably my second favorite. If you set it up with a good back drop you can still get very good night time pictures.

For night images on this model Tom nailed it, all in the back drop.

Thanks Tom, that is good enough night pics for me. I haven't had any issues outta my IR models, just wanted to try a black one. My mp6 has been on the same tree for 2.5 years.... Lol. No issues at all

Now if the deer is moving it will be blurred but that goes for any IR black or red.
