I'll be in western Illinois first week of November at my usual DIY outfitter. BUT I have the first two weeks of November off for vacation, figured I'd hunt my land back in RI the second week. But then it hit me....I'll already be in the Midwest for the prime time rut action, why not stay out there??!! I'm tossing around the idea of an extremely low cost DIY hunt, public land hunt... Unless someone wants a best friend for life!!! Lol! So let's hear some ideas!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If Iowa sold OTC tags I would say come on over! Why not find some public ground in Illinois? Hopefully you fill your tag before the second week though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That'd be awesome if they did!! When I buy my Illinois tags, I have to declare the outfitter I'll be with, and I guess the tags are only valid if I'm hunting with that outfitter. Ohio is a strong possibility!! Does Kansas do OTC?!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Too lazy to look haha. I want to say they are under $300 but don't quote me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Come on up to northern WI. Deer population is on the down side. NR Tags are cheap and plenty of county, State, and National Forest land to hunt. Your main competition will be Bear, wolves, and Coyote. But the Bucks are there and big if you can connect.
Joe, I would want nothing more than for you to stop at my place in Ohio for a few days and hunt but as you know, I couldn't go on that Illinois hunt because I am taking off to hunt with my crew on the nine acres. So when you are making your way back I will be heading back to work after using some vacation to hunt.
If this would have been the past 2 years I would have met up with you in Ohio. That was when I went...not going this year though.
Appreciate it guys!!!! Kansas would be amazing...but the tags are a bit pricey for public land. Ohio sea like the best bet. I think I remember someone saying NR tags were $150? What area would my best bet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Might be hard pressed to get a left over KS tag this year. They cut way back. I was lucky enough to draw a tag this year but I know several guys that didn't. The three states in proximity to IL that I would consider would be KY, Ohio, and Missouri in that order for over the counter tags and public access.
