I don't plan on hunting WI this fall but would have a few questions and comments on these. This is far superior to Illinois' 10 pm the day of the kill rule. Kudos to WI for having a brain. I don't get it. All registration for this year is electronic so you don't have to bring it anywhere to register it. Or are there specific counties or zones where you must bring your deer to a check station? Also, it says something about computers and phones being available at check stations for people to use. Am I to assume this is to cover those without access to a phone or a computer? About time. This was a stupid regulation to begin with. Stupid political decision.
I agree, in a country where we are currently struggling with skin color issues, let's start judging deer by their color instead of treating all deer equally Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would even argue this is too short for the gun hunters way out in the sticks in remote camps. I think they are just trying to stop people from driving all over the state before they register your deer.If you are traveling then just register it before traveling. Its no big deal in my mind. Agreed. This was more about tradition more than anything. With the opener of the gun season being such a big deal they just thought it was a good idea to just shut everything down the day before. Protecting albino deer is nothing new and has always been this way. The only difference is now they are also protecting them in the CWD areas again. Piebald are fair game
It has nothing to do with management. It's for the large Native American population in WI. Albino animals are known as spirit animals or something and non hunters really like seeing and photographing them.
Albino Deer have been protected here in Tennessee for a while now. never seen one so guess it dont matter
It's new to me. I know non hunters get upset but didn't realize they were protected. What reasoning do they give?
Electronic registration. Now what excuse will we have to go to the local bar/registration station to show off our kill and brag with the other hunters and enjoy some adult beverages.
Yes. That is my interpretation. General license information and authorized Weapon use • Gun Deer license: Required to hunt deer with a gun (including a muzzleloader), and also allows hunting with a bow and arrow or crossbow, but only during a firearm deer season. • archer license: Allows hunting with a bow and arrow only for deer during the archery deer season and for small game during a small game season. • crossbow license: Allows hunting with a crossbow only for deer during the crossbow deer season and for small game during a small game season. note: The purchase of a $3 upgrade is required with either an archer or crossbow license in order to use both weapon types.
That's how I read it too. They used to list the archery season with two sets of dates that excluded the Friday before rifle opener through the second Sunday. Hmm..... might. ditch. the. rifle....
They started that last year. You do still need to wear blaze during the 9 days. I would think about it except my rifle stand is much warmer.
I'm just cheap. Do I go archery and possibly get more hunting time, or stick with the rifle and take a break from the bow?
I see Washburn Co is going to let me shoot a doe this year This two buck only tags in two states thing is getting old.
It was voted on by the public via the annual conservation hearings that are held in wisconsin. Not really political.
