Well since i can only talk about South African animals i would like to hear what animals from which countries are know for jumping? Over here we have a few and this video was taken last week of an Impala male jumping a shot with a recurve @15 yrds!!
The deer I have seen will do more of a drop than a jump. Duck the string rather than jump it. Just like the video.
That shot looked a little high to me to begin with but the impala def jumped the string too! Whitetails that I have shot and seen seem to jump the string a little from my experience which is why I always try to aim at the heart allowing them to drop a little and still lung them. My deer last season jumped the string on me at 21 yards and I hit a little high...with my angle from being in a high set I had I still managed to hit both lungs lucky and was a quick track job. I have hunted black bear as well and haven't yet experienced them jumping the string at all, but I have only taken one so far.
Come to think of it I have had over 100 or so grouse and woodcock that have jumped my shot and ducked the bb's of of a 12 gauge.
Over this side, we have Impala, warthog and springbuck that is known for Jumping/ducking!almost none of the other 37 odd species will do that!
all that shot miss jumping isnt true. its just you and the way you tune your bow. not the animal. most of it is the wind. ive shot 3ds whitetails with simulating wind condition alot and ive also shot deer on when there jumping. its mostly on the lungs to me.
well, the only big game animal ive ever hunted here in the United States is the whitetail deer, and they jump the strings !! Tough animals
