    Food Plot Transformation UPDATE 4/5/16

So a little over a year ago I bought 10a and thought I would show the transformation of my food plot. All the pic are taken with my back to the tree I hunt from.

This is it when I 1st got the land.

This is after I finished cutting it all down and plied it up to burn.

After I burned the trees and sprayed the new growth
    3.jpg

After I paid a company to come in and bulldoze the stumps ($300)
    4.jpg

At this point it was end of august so I had no time do anything else so I planted turnips and they did grow ok.

Pic of a buck in the turnips.

Now in about march I tilled the ground up to get as many roots up as possible and as you can see in the pic it was a lot.

I then planted a grass and oats mixed which did good again but cannot find the pic but this is from my trail cam.

So about 3 weeks ago I cut it down and sprayed it then tilled it.

and my soil sample that came back almost perfect.

Now the ground is truly ready I am going to plant the bottom half in clover and the top half in turnips and radish. The plot is .30a 110'x120'. I have about 8 turkeys that come out most days and a family of 4 does almost every day. The only time I get bucks on camera is just before the rut until late December.

    UPDATE 4/5/16
So I decided to expand on my food plot this winter/spring and I just finished planting it yesterday. I corrected the soil based on the soil test from last year and will do another one late in the year when it's had time to get in the soil.

So this is the area I was going to clear

Everything after the green line is planted in clover

From the opposite side everything before the green is clover

From my tower everything north and south of the green is planted in clover the middle will be for annuals, the 3 red spots are apple trees I planted yesterday

I enjoy seeing threads like this. Great looking plot. Pictures like these never do the actual work/time/sweat put into it any justice. Look forward to seeing some trail cams of the bucks cruising through this plot!

Looks good. I have an area a little smaller than that I would like to turn into a nice little plot but all I have access to for tools is a riding mower and hand tools. At least it's all over grown grass and weeds and no trees...

Check out this thread. I did what you're saying with only a riding mower and a $50 hand spreader. It can be done:
