When I started training for last years half marathon, I had a personal goal to run it with an average pace of a 10 minute mile. It sounded ambitious, and it was at the time. A lot of you know I ended up injuring myself and having to walk almost the entire half. I've trained harder but smarter this year. Yesterday I thought I was ready, so I set out to do 13.1 miles on the open road. It was pretty warm for so early in the morning - right at 80 degrees at 95% humidity with a 74 degree dewpoint. I stashed water bottles at two locations, drove to the start and took off at a 10 minute mile pace, which feels pretty easy now. Well, it felt easy for the first 8 miles. The last five miles felt a little tougher. This one means a lot to me for personal reasons. Now I just have to double it by December.
That should mean a lot, that's great. The humidity is not fun to try and walk in, let alone run 13 miles.
