We have decided we want to get a bigger screen prior to football season and move our current TV into our bedroom. I'm looking at ~60". Thinking Samsung or Vizio right now but open to others.

The question I have is mostly about resolution. Does anyone broadcast in 4K UHD? I stream a lot of my TV and do not have paid cable or dish. I do watch TV over the air on local channels.

I also see there are resolutions better than 1080 now. 2160? 1960? What are these about and who broadcasts in them?

Any comments you have are appreciated. I like the prices of the regular 1080 HDTV's so tell me if I need to spend more.

By the time 4k is widely distributed 8k will be released. Just some food for thought. Netflix streams some content in 4k as does amazon. 98% of people won't notice over a high end 1080p.
