Me and my brother will be backpacking in and hunting for 2 weeks in southern CO for elk and we have planned and planned and scouted and practice and bought everything we thought we needed and more. Until last night when we were talking and realized we had no idea what the bugs will be like. So my questions for you guys is in the mountains in early September how bad are the bugs and weather? I know weather is a shot in the dark because it can change in a second. Thanks!

Just get a thermacell. No skeeters with that. Also Sawyer premithin spray keeps all ticks off, I use it on all my hunting clothes.

I wouldn't worry about the bugs. I've never had any issues for any of the times I've been in the mountains.

Granted it was mid to late Sept, but I had no bug issues either in Co.
