    Honestly I couldn't tell you what day archery opens this year in MN? I used to get excited for the opener but as I've gotten older I tend to focus my efforts towards the rut. It's just a much more exiting time of the season IMO and I take two weeks of vacation to hunt it.

    I haven't even had to chance to think about it this year. I will miss all of September, but perhaps I can find time in October/November. For the most part Ill be going in completely blind here in NC. If I get the Chance to head back to MD I haven't set foot on any of my properties since last September and that should work out in my favor!

    I'm surprised so many people don't hunt during early season. Whether it's to take a doe or pattern deer from the stand, I find hunting during the early season to be invaluable. Some of the best buck action I've had was when bucks were still bachelored up. 73 days here....any I'm definitely counting.

    To me early season( August , September and early October) is time to hunt "big " game, I like to head north or west and save deer hunting for late oct and all of November.
