2 years ago purchased a yeti 110 and got a solid 4 uses of it which it performed flawlessly. Then tragedy struck when I was camping at a weekend softball tournament and on the last night one of my buddies must have thrown about 2 lbs of hamburger in it and I didn't open it for another 3 weeks in 90 degree August weather due to harvest and thinking there was just beer and water in it. It has been over a year and have tried things from baking soda to leave it open in the sun and now it has charcoal sitting in it. Any ideas on how to get the smell out? Pretty desperate if it wouldn't be a multi 100 dollar cooler it would have be in the landfill awhile ago.

I would fill it will a bleach and water solution and let it soak, then repeat that several times.

Your main issue is going to be in two places. First the drain plug .....the drain hole will be Fouled up bad, the plug it self should be replaced . Clean the drain hole with a bore brush and bleach

The next issue maybe your seal, if it got fouled up you might consider replacing it.

I have bleached my yeti coolers out without issue A few times .

I had a tech unplug a freezer in a customers home once and it didn't get found for a few weeks. I scrubbed, bleached, peroxided and anything else I could think of. Never got all of the smell out. Have you tried running your Ozonics in the cooler overnight?

I don't have an Ozonics but this my be the excuse in need to convince myself to get one. And we had a freezer go out with about 200 lb of beef in it that we were storing for a neighbor 5 years ago in our unfinished basement. That one was worse but not by much haha

Charcoal briquettes, baking soda, or coffee grounds are all good odor absorbers. Give one or all of them a try as well. Newspaper also it absorbs the smell.

If the charcoal doesn't work, and it should but may require a couple different bags, try soaking in vinegar. A real good kitty litter product may also help.

I would also try putting some Scent Killer or whatever scent eliminator you may use.

Fill it with water and bleach. Strong bleach solution. Let it sit for at least a week.

1 1/2 cups of bleach per gallon of water.

So for a 110 qt cooler you'll want to add at least 1 and 3/4 gallons of bleach.

And don't forget to soak down the lid and seals with the bleach solution.

First, disinfect it. (bleach it) Then try scent removal.

Think of it as a pair of soiled underwear. Spraying them with febreeze might get them smelling better but you really should go ahead and clean 'em first.
