With the governor’s signature on SB 212, bowhunters will be free to carry the firearm of their choice on private land during the upcoming 2015-16 hunting season. With the increase in wild hogs in Louisiana the governor will allow this for protection, as we all know a .22 will not stop a charging Hog in his tracks lol. I thanksful for this bill because I've had some very intense close calls on hog walking up to your lock on in the dark. Do you agree with this bill?

the WMA's have rules against fire arm carrying but from what I'm reading they are meeting at the end of the month to talk about changing it. My guess is they are worried about out-laws. But most WMA's have plenty of game warrens theses day so I don't see the issue.

Anyone should be allowed to carry a concealed firearm at any time on all private or public land that doesn't have a private establishment or federal/state building that prohibits firearms. I agree with the bill but think it falls short.

yea I believe they will allow it everywhere and rewrite the rules for it on WMA's. Its more of a safety issue than a criminal one personally if you ask me.

safety issue? for what? I will never understand why people are afraid of hogs

the issue I have is that I bowhunt on public land and I choose to not hunt during gun season because I do not trust all these Billy Bob rednecks in this state, but now they are wanting to let them carry their .270 with them during bow season too?

On average how many people in LA get shot per year by someone else hunting?

no...and I've been around hogs hundreds of times

in fact I swear the mythical "hog charging" stories are just that...mythical

kinda like all those "black panther" sightings

No idea. Guess I will need to wear orange while bowhunting though?

Don't worry. People are afraid of black bears around here to.

I would check the statistics. I bet way more hunters shoot themselves on accident with a gun vs. shooting someone else.

A guy got cut up pretty good last year in Louisiana by a hog it was on the Louisiana sportsman. I've had friends get charged but never really hurt. The black panther I'm with you on those stories, I guess they hang out with big foot in the tickets.

On public land I would worry way more about running into a meth cook station or pot growing operation before any of the animals.

You should be afforded the same rights during hunting situations as you have for any other situation for personal protection.

I would tend to agree, the 2 legged varmints are way more dangerous than the 4 legged ones.

    You have a bow...

We have enough outlaws as it is in LA, now all these bowhunters are going to be carrying their .270 for those "just in case" moments when that big one is just out of range.

I don't know about you but I have enough gear to carry without trying to carry a rifle with my bow, pack, climber, etc. Now I might carry a pistol but not a rifle.
