As season is getting closer and my groups are getting closer I am getting pumped to shoot my first deer with a bow. I was wondering what kind of speeds and KE I am getting out of my setup and found out that my bow is shooting around 296FPS and about 78lbs of Kinetic Energy. I am shooting a fairly lightweight arrow and I was wondering what broadhead would be best for my setup. Note: I am only 14 and do not have a very long draw and its not my fault so don't bash me like the idiots on Archery Talk
28.5 is short? thanks for calling me short lol. And I'm 25 haha. For your setup and weight you can really shoot any broadhead. I would stick to fixed blade but that's just my opinion. I love my 3 blade muzzys personally. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can't go wrong with a 3 blade Thunderhead 100, or Muzzy Trocar buddy. Your KE is good for about anything though like SoccerDan said. And heck man, don't worry about what some of the folks on here say. With your KE, speed, if you can put the right head in the boiler room.... They won't tote it far!!!! Hang tough buddy
No, I'm not calling you short, but most of the guys on Archery Talk act like they have a 40" Draw Length and Pull 100lbs
Haha I know lol. 28.5 isn't too long but there are shorter. I try to stay away from AT. But your setup is plenty for whatever you want to use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm pretty sure 28.5 is at or above average. Personally I would up your arrow weight to 450 plus and shoot any broadhead you want. I'm at 72 pounds 28.5 inch draw length shooting a 476 grain arrow. It's a bone crusher. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can pretty much shoot most anything you want. The Killzone Low KE would be ok. P.S. Don't rely on those calculators, you need to actually shoot it thru a chronograph. It may surprise you.
There's a lot of people that shoot a draw length that's too long for them. I agree with the previous post about a heavier arrow.
The draw length fits me perfectly, any idea which heavier arrow I should get? I was thinking about the CX Piledrivers
Damn, Your 14 and pulling 70 pounds. Hell i'm 33 and my draw weight is at 55 pounds. Just like all the other guys have said. You can shoot pretty much anything. Yea your arrow weight could be a little higher with that draw weight but its not horrible. Shot placement is key. Check out the Slick Tricks if you decide to go to a fixed blade broadhead.
I'd go with a mid weight arrow and brass inserts. You'll probably get the same weight but better FOC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm a huge Gold Tip fan so a Kinetic is my first thought. For your needs, an Easton Axis would serve you really well or if you want to go super heavy, the Axis FMJs would be a good arrow. I shot a 410gr arrow at 305fps last year and shot thru everything I drew back on with a Rage Xtreme 2.3". One was at 8 yards, one was at 34yds and the other was 38yds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Get some Dirt Nap Gear DRT double bevel broadheads and use those, they are tough as a nails, fly amazing, and have no questions asked lifetime warranty. You could shoot it into a rock on purpose and if it breaks send it back and get a new one.
