What is this?

So I just went up to check my trail cams and one of my spots is across a 40 acre field just to get the woods. This is my go to spot if I want to be alone and not worry about other people. Either way, I happen to get up their when something was sprouting up in the field and I was unsure what it is. In the past this field is either just grass, sometimes I've seen pickles growing in the field or later on he will plant winter wheat. Can any of you identify what is growing here. By the road where the tracker was their was some of the seeds which were pink and white which might help you. I was hoping I'd get soybeans this year LOL. The last time I had soybeans I had deer galore.

 

It is definitely a bean plant. What kind I don't know.

 

Looks like a snap bean (green beans). Obviously I can't tell the variety but probably blue lake.

 

LoL, just what I need is green beans for hunting. I hope your wrong lol

 

Deer & rabbits around me eat my whole green bean plants to the ground

 

I just find it odd that a farmer would plant a 40 acre field of green beans.LOL not that I dont disagree just seems odd.

 

Maybe they are a Jelly Belly's!!!! I can eat candy while I walk to my deer stand! YES! The seeds where almost a neon pink and white.

 

You probably should hope I'm right, deer freaking love green beans it's just that they are generally too expensive to plant very many acres of so few people ever mention trying it. One year back when we were truck farming we had 14 acres of them and there were deer in them every day and night.

If the guy plants cucumbers once In a while, he probably does some truck farming or at least some farmers markets.

Was thinking about planting them instead of soybeans but couldn't swallow the price it would cost. Next year I will do green beans instead of soys to see how they compare. Deffinatly green beans though by the leaf size and shape

 

I was going to ask how the farmer was growing pickles but someone beat me to it!

Well assuming you all are right, then I guess i'll try to stay happy about it lol. If they are indeed green beans. When do they usually get harvested? Here in Wisconsin bow season doesnt open till Mid-September. Just trying to think how much hunting I will really have with the crop still standing.

 

They are usually about 50-60 days to harvest.

 

oh ok, bummer. Most likely they will be gone by hunting season then anyways. Atleast I should get some good trail cam pics then. I got a camera thats in the woods about 60 yards in a staging area they like to go before they hit the fields at dusk.

 

It'll be close, depending on how the guy harvests them (assuming he does) it could work in your favor. Sometimes there's new growth post-harvest and deer will hammer the puddin out of it.
