Well I finally pulled the trigger on a refurbished G20 from Canon and now comes the fun part. Piecing my setup together. I'm going to need some specific recommendations for some accessories that I need to get. Those of you that have that camera or have the experience, I value your opinions greatly! This is new territory for me.

First of all, I have the camera arm under control, as well as the fluid head.

Everything else, I need some recommendations on that are quality stuff but budget friendly.

    1. Shotgun Mic- I know Rode, is very good but are there any other ones I should be looking at that does just as good of a job for less money?

    2. Lanc Remote- Varizoom I'm guessing?

    3. Extended battery? (which model?)

    4. I'm going to go with the Muddy Outfitter arm

    5. Manfrotto Fluid Head (Any in particular I should look at)

    6. I know I'm forgetting some stuff but what are some other accessories I need to get other than a carry bag?

Lastly, I need a recommendation for some video editing software that's not going to be super complex or pricey, mainly because it's not something I feel I need at the point.

    Thanks guys!

Congrats on the purchase! Here are my suggestions..
Shotgun mic-rode videomic or azden smx10? I think thats the model #
    Lanc remote-varizoom stealth
Battery-any aftermarket on amazon with good reviews. Mine is a Wasabi I believe?
Fluid head-the $85 manfotto will work great with that camera.
Editing software-i use adobe premiere elements and it does everything I need it to.
** I'd also look into getting the Muddy silent strap for your camera arm. It's SOO much quieter than a rachet strap

Are you talking about the Manfrotto that's a "semi fluid head"?

Well I ordered a Rode VideoMic with the Lyre Suspension off of B&H Photo Video for $106. Seems to be a great mic. I'll get a fuzzy windscreen to go over the foam one soon.

I'm really needing some advice as to what Video Editing software that I can use that doesn't have a huge learning curve that I can do everything I need to do.

I may post it in the Bowhunting section as well to get some extra input

    She's here!

Anyone that's considering the refurbished directly from Canon, do it! I can't tell anything different about this camera compared to one you would buy in a store. It's absolutely phenomenal!

The 10x zoom would be too weak for anything much over 100 yards but for my application, it will be great!
