Well I broke down and finally switch over to mechanicals. Been using Thunderheads for forever, but I've had a few incidents that had me scratching my head. Decided to go with the Hypodermics because of the all steel design, the looks, and the reviews. I'm sure it cuts a huge hole, but I'm worried about penetration. Does anyone has any experience with these?

I shot rage when they first came out. I don't remember ever getting a pass through but I was only shooting 55 pounds. The arrow would always make it the other side of the deer but stop when it tried to exit the hide. They always got the job done though.

Was it the old style Rages without the chisil tip? When Rage first came out, I really didn't like the design but the hypodermics look pretty solid compared to when Rage first came out.

Haven't tried the hypodermic heads but have used pretty much all the other ones and have never had a problem. Last year went to the 125 grain and the chisel tip just to get more weight and to try something new.

They'll do the job if you do yours much like any head.

I tried them and didn't like them at all. Mine whistled going downrange and the blades would break in a foam block. I'd have to be paid well to use a mechanical of any kind at this point. I only buy Hellrazors.

I hear a lot of people say "If you do your part, blah blah will do just fine", but what if you don't. I want something that will bust through bone if I hit too far forward, reach out and nick a vital if I hit a bit back, and get good penetration on a quartering away shot.

I practice just as much as the next guy, but I'm not perfect. And when I put an arrow through a deer, I want it to be as lethal as possible.

I used rage hd last 2 years and have been pretty happy with the results. First year I shot a buck at 18 yards and hot the opposite shoulder so it didn't pass through. Last year I only shot a 100 pound doe at 15 yards quartering away, complete pass through, arrow sticking 10 inches in the ground. Here's the doe pic entry wound and sliced heart

Those are the kind of pictures that made me pull the trigger on Rage.

I have shot 10+ deer with the hyperdermics and am very impressed with these heads. I had a doe quartering away at 30 yards and it blew right through her opposite shoulder and stuck in the ground. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I too have been using Rage broadheads since they hit the market. I have used the original Rage, Rage 2 Blade Extreme, Rage Chisel Tip Extreme, Hypodermic and the Hypodermic Deeps Six. Out of all of them, I prefer the Hypodermics the best. I shot a buck last year at 21 yards, quartering towards me. I hit him in the left front shoulder and came out behind his right rib cage. I have had a pass through on EVERY deer I have shot with them. FYI...Make sure you buy them from a reputable dealer(BPS, DSG or your local archery shop) and not for a cheap price online. There are some counterfeits out there that people have used that did not perform well. I think you will be very pleased with them! :tu:

I used them last season and got 2 pass throughs on does so I wouldn't worry about penetration. Mine were silent and didn't "whistle" like fixed heads

I'm shooting 54-55 pounds with my HTR. Easton Axis arrows weighing about 392 grains. Last time I shot it through a chrono it was 242 fps. Do you think the Hypodermics would be a good choice for me? Otherwise I was looking at the Slick Trick Standards fixed blade.

I would not use a Rage unless the total weight is over 400gr. I am going to be using the hypodermic in 125 grain this season. A Rage will penetrate shoulder blades if it hits hard enough.

That's what I was figuring. Pretty sure i'm going to go with the Slick Trick Standards then. I heard they fly pretty close to field points.

Are they in the original Rage package or were they loose? If they came loose they are Chinese knockoffs.
