I'll say Minnesota isn't that great either. If I had to live in another state I would pick Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma or Texas. Not for any specific reason, just a few I wouldn't mind to live in.
Thank God... Everyone PLEASE MOVE TO MICHIGAN and forget about the states west of the mississippi. There are LOTS of jobs in Michigan's booming economy, There is LOTS of public land with boomers behind every tree, There is ZERO crime in cities like Detroit and their football teams are AMAZING... and you'll have time to watch football all Fall because the deer hunting it INCREDIBLE! YESSSSSSS, MOVE TO MICHIGAN!
You know what they say about opinions..... I honestly couldn't say though, it's one of the few states I've never been to, but I'm not really into harsh winters so I'm pretty sure it would be off my list.
I have lived in Michigan and traveled most of it. Not sure if it's the best, but it really does have a lot to offer.
