Hey guys this is my first time fletching arrows and I want to buy a good glue so my blazer vanes won't come flying off or tear apart from shooting. What do you guys recommend I use?
Gold Tip, Tip Grip glue. Have had good results with Goat Tuff on vanes, mixed results on inserts. AAE Fast Set Gel has worked well for me as well.
I just wouldn't take my chances on a glue that was not formulated for specific use on carbon shafts and plastic vanes.
I use G-Lock-Blu-Glu made by G5. It is blue until it dries and if your just starting it helped me to visually see if I used to much glue and clean up easier Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I use loctite brand superglue. cheap and works well. never had an issue yet. i use it on both vanes and inserts
I bet you loctite gives a better bond than 99% of the "fletching glues" on the market. Honestly they are not a special formula that makes them magically bond carbon and plastic. Its all just super glue
This may be true, but I do not just put any wax on my bow string, any old oil in my truck, or just any glue on my inserts and vanes. I use gold tip tip grip and I cannot pull the vanes off with vise grips. the vanes just stretch and then tear. The loctite very well may have the same results.
I had a catasrophe today My newborn started flipping out while I was gluing blazer vanes on (no jig). Being a new dad i kind of panicked and ended up with the super glue on my lips, teeth and tongue. After I got everything all taken care of I went and got the quick fletchs. Good luck to you man! I will stick with the quick fletch
congratulations on fletching your arrows. there is a lot of satisfaction in taking game with an arrow you've built. You didn't mention using wraps. I've found wraps make it easier to remove old fletching and prepare an arrow for re-fletching if needed. highly recommend them.
I had the best luck with carbon express archery glue, but I have also used gorilla super glue with Ok results. Scuff up the arrow with some sand paper and clean with alcohol for best results. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
