I took my daughter on her first ever hog hunt last night and she had a blast. She was hunting with my rifle while I had my bow. It only took about an hour and she had her first EVER harvest on the ground. I was one proud dad!! My harvest turned into quite a fun little hunt. After finding my daughters pig, I got her out of the stand and we went on a little spot and stalk. It was quite difficult trying to keep a teenage girl from talking but somehow, I managed. It didn't take long to find a decent group of pigs, about 8 of them in total. I started working my way up a trail toward where they were feeding and all of a sudden, one turns and starts walking towards me down the trail. I duck behind a pine and pull back to full draw just waiting for him to walk within view. He stopped about 30 yards short and was facing directly towards me, then started drinking from a little swamp hole. I had NO shot, only spine! I stayed at full draw hoping he would turn broadside. A few seconds later I hear a noise to the left of me and I peak around the pine. Keep in mind that I'm still at full draw with a 72# bow...lol I see this sow and she is directly broadside only about 25 yards out. I immediately swing my bow around and as soon as she stops, I let it fly. It was a double lung, complete pass through and the Killzone did it's job VERY well. I was hunting in the swamps of central Florida and she was bleeding so much that the trail was staring me in the face even through all the mud and crap. She only went about 30-40 yards after the shot. This was my first harvest with the Killzones and I can't be more impressed with their performance. Anyway, I will post both mine and my daughters photo's. I know she took hers with a rifle but I'm still proud of her. She thought watching me bowhunt was the coolest thing ever and now she wants me to teach her. I'm not going to complain about that one single bit!! Hope you guys enjoyed the little story and the following pics. I just created a hunter for life with her.
Very cool! Congrats to you and your daughter!! Thanks for sharing your pics with us, nothing nicer than what you and your daughter will share for ever!! Great job.
Congrats to you and your daughter! I am looking forward to the day when my son is old enough to make his first harvest.
