Sorry for the crappy pics. I was using my DSLR and these deer were anywhere from 300-500 yards away. Def need a bigger lens but I also found a spotting scope and adapter combo for $100 I'm thinking about getting instead. Anyway here's a couple that I've seen so far that I'm keeping an eye on.
First off, awesome pics. Second, and this may sound like a stupid question, but when do the deer around you really develop most of their size and stop growing? By me, they really explode in size between mid July and mid August. Right now, a nice 8 pointer probably doesn't have more than small brow tines, and G2 and G3's just starting to develop.
Usually the same time frame as you.... I normally don't put cameras out until after July 4th. Usually by Mid July I can tell by the deer's frame if he is something I want to pursue getting more pictures of, but some of these deer I'm seeing this year are just flat out WAY ahead of schedule. There's a few in a bachelor group I'm watching that I know are going to be good deer they just haven't developed near as far along as some of these other bucks have already.
For me, they're pretty much finished by early August. Mid June to the end of July is when they grow the most Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's great that they are ahead of schedule. Maybe you will get some absolute monsters this year. Good luck this season and hopefully you get hands on at least one of them.
