While this buck isn't very big. It was a buck tag used with my bow. First buck shot with a bow in 25 years. I ran cameras for over a month. Both of my boys had already tagged out (gun hunting) and this buck was the only one on camera. He was all over the farm running everything off. I put him on the hit list and harvested him the second time out from a ground blind. My first hunt - the wind changed and I backed out. Went back 2 days later for an all day sit and shot him around 3pm at 20 yards. We have harvested much bigger deer, but this was a nice intro back into bow hunting last year. He dropped about 25 lbs in a month. The rage hit him in the middle of his lungs, but look how loose his hide was at that point. You could rotate his hide to where the shot looked very low as well. His hind quarters were down to nothing. The first week he was gone, we started picking up 2 big 8s that he had ran off the property. We called him the rut bully.
Thx. It is GREAT to be back. I always knew I would come back and the timing just worked out perfect. My 22 and 15 yr old are having a blast as well. I was having some troubles at first but I'm starting to shoot better than them now. The old man still has it. Lol When I set up for this buck - I set up for a 20 yard shot. Really easy in my opinion. Now I'm shooting 30, 40, 50 and even 60. I was really kinda worried back in March, but all the practice and reading has paid off.
