Coyote shot

Well tonight I shot at my first coyote with a buddy using a bow. I used an expandable broadhead and seemed like I shot him good. After shot he flipped about 3 times then took off bolting into the woods. We walked into the little patch of trees and never found him. There was only some hair on the arrow and no blood to be found. I knew I hit him good by his reaction. Has this ever happened to anyone before? I got a video of it but it's not the best quality

Is there blood on the arrow. If there is. Hes a dead coyote. Youd probally hit him on the soft shoulder blade. Most time you dont get alot of blood hittingt em there. Theres 2 possibilities that there will be no blood. 1 heart and soft shoulder blade.

 

I've shot coyotes with a .223 before and there was no blood but dead either right there or 30 yards away. Don't know why though.

 

Had it happen this fall. Was hardly any blood on the arrow but when he circled back across in front of me the whole side of him was blood. Once I got on the blood trail there was a ton and he still went 500 + yards. They can be real tough at times others they spin around and die right there.

 

I hammered a coyote once with a .243 at 40 yards. When he ran away I swore I had missed. I stepped it off to see how for he actually was. When I got up there, there was blood everywhere. We ended up following the blood trail for 220 yards before we found him laying dead. The entrance and exit hole were the size of a tennis ball and when I picked him up the heart was freely flopping around in the chest cavity. I was blown away that he made it that far! I will post pictures when I get home from work. WARNING: They are pretty graphic.

 

I shot one through both shoulders/lungs with a .308 and he made it 200+ yards. They have a will to live that's second to none. I shot one with the same .308 this year at 30 yards almost dead walking away that went absolutely no where. I've shot one with a bow as well with a Rage Extreme and you couldn't have placed the arrow any better but he still went over 150 yards. They're very tough critters

I shot one a couple deer seasons ago. Thing jumped and took off. I knew I hit him (243) - we got down and tracked, fresh blood in the snow spraying both sides. Tracked him for a long time and gave up. I'm sure he died somewhere. They're just tough.

 

I shoulder/heart shot a coyote, 2" hypodermic. Barely any blood trail, it rolled and died 15yds from where i shot it, and it was laying in a pool of blood

Tacklebox and I once tracked a yote my boradhead had gutted...we were tracking chunks of intestines and organs not blood...thing just kept going and going and going...he now sets across my coffee table in the Man Cave though. :D (thanks to one of TJ's judo heads finishing him off)

Ahhhh memories

When Ty says intestines and organs he means it. The dogs entire insides were out on that trail and he still wasn't giving up.

 

Isn't that the best shot on a Coyote? Shoot him on your land, but he runs and dies somewhere else Stinky bastards.

 

I believe that was the same hunt you had a yearling buck nearly bump into you as he walked by haha!

 

I 'shot' a coyote last fall that came unglued when that arrow passed 'through' him. He literally turned inside out with a growl and ran off. I swore up and down that arrow went right through it's shoulder as I heard a 'crunch' and it looked good. I even texted a buddy saying I just stuck one. Later that morning I got down to take up the track and trail him and there was my arrow completely clean, just a couple hairs and no blood. The crunch was the broadhead hitting gravel under the leaf litter.
