This year we are having a problem with the big ole carpenter bees. They are everywhere. Well, recently we started getting a visitor at 6AM...a woodpecker. He started on the side of the house and has moved to the front. He is becoming quite destructive. We've tried shooting it, but every time he flies away before we get a shot. I googled some quick fixes - such as windchimes, reflective shiny things, etc. (Which I will be adding those things) But, is there any other possible fix? Any one have this problem?
That is something I found online that was mentioned. I have one in the barn - I'd have to try and find a spot to place it....maybe on a stake in the flower bed.
I know several farmers who have them on top bins and buildings. Probably need to put it some place high
I have a pecker problem, he has been working on a tree branch that goes over my drive way. It would appear he got al lil too carried away as yesterday the majority of the branch was in my driveway. Luckily it missed both of our vehicles when it fell.
Would getting the carpenter bees out help? I have seen those cheap traps you can make to get rid of them and maybe it would help?
That's the odd thing. We treated our house and they're still coming around. I think [knock on wood] we have it slowly resolving as I got a loud windchime which really made them disappear for the majority. I'll look into a trap for them, too. Thankfully, I didn't wake up to him this morning!
I've treated hundreds of Carpenter Bee calls this year so far. We pump an insecticide dust (tempo) into the holes the carpenter bees make. Adios Carpenter Bees and good bye to the woodpeckers trying to get them. I don't know how much pest control around your parts would be to take care of it. There are some over the counter products that are ok, but not quite like the products a licensed pest control applicator uses. Wish I was closer, I'd come take care of it.
There is a pest control in town. If my home remedies don't work I'll have to call. I haven't seen many bees lately...the ones I am seeing are dead. Which is good. Thank you!
