Yikes. I don't care if I was 10 feet from the car or 10 feet from the mineral site, it wouldn't have gotten checked that day. I'm glad you got him before he got you
In PA you can only kill Rattler's in the designated season with a license. We have more copperheads (need a license for them as well) than rattlers where I hunt though. But I generally leave all snakes alone.
Water mocisan, AKA cotton mouth, is black with a golden hues and of course, the signature white mouth. I believe the pictures is a timber rattlesnake, but not 100%. We have Copperheads around my area, but I haven't seen 1 in many years.. mostly garters and my wife saw a Northern King snake (long black with white rings) a few years back. My neighbor found a baby milk snake and freaked out last year. HE came screaming to my house saying there is a huge snake in his backyard... The thing was about 4" long. I brought a shovel, but it was so tiny, I just tudged it back into the woods.
I'm glad we don't have those critters in my part of the world. I hate snakes! Blessings.........Pastorjim
I wish we had more timber rattlers here. Beautiful creatures! It sucks that ignorance leads to the death of so many snakes...
I have a whole swamp full of snakes you can come hand pick yourself, ranging from eastern diamond backs to timber rattlers on over to cottonmouths and copperheads.
Start your own thread if you love them so much, but you'll find no one to drink your Kool-Aid here. Rev, we call them Timber rattlers up here, and in south AL I hear them called Canebrakes. Same critters.
That's not like any timber rattler I've ever seen. But then again I've only seen a hand full. Sent from my arrow using Mathews!
that thing wouldn't have a chance to grow anything if it was near my mineral site or any of my hunting areas.!
