Does anyone use a trail camera as a second angle camera? I was thinking about getting a covert HD 60 and having it face the shooter. Just wondering if anyone does that or the pros and cons that anyone could come up with. I couldn't think of any reason it wouldn't work and the battery life would be better and it would only trigger if you moved. Im sure there are cons that im missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I dont do it but you could. Some lower end HD cameras used will be cheaper than a trail camera though and have a little zoom to them. But if you already got it or money is no option why not try it?
Im really wanting to try it but wanted to check to make sure there wasn't some blatant reason that I was missing but I really think im going to try it in the fall.
Lots of drawbacks in my opinion. You don't actually control the start/stop, so you don't actually know if and when it starts recording. Also, they have a limited recording duration of no more than 60 seconds. I wouldn't want to not have control over when the video stops. Imagine how frustrating it would be to get your shot, only to find out that you missed it on the second angle because it was between vid clips. Just my 2 cents.
That is a possibility and would really suck. It said that you can set it to have a 1 second delay. What do you think the chances are of you shooting that 1 second of delay. But that's assuming that you are moving enough to trigger it again. That could be a deal breaker. I might try it on hogs but even if it worked a couple times it would only take one time for it not to work on that 170 incher to suck really bad.
It's always worth trying. The video files are free. If it doesn't work out just delete them. If you try it out, let us know how it turns out!
If you don't already own one I wouldn't buy one just for that reason I'd get a tactacam Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
