Just wondering what everybodies favorite calls are. Slate, box, diaphragm whatever. Mine is the small frame "butt naked hen" by Tom teasers for my go to mouth call and the "woodhaven mini red scorpion" As my backup. Also always have my hs strutt boxcall in the vest every time I go into the turkey woods!
I have a box call I have had for 20 years, I don't even remember who made it. It is my go to. I have an very sensitive gag reflex and I cannot use mouth calls. I have tried off and on for years. I just can't keep them in long enough to learn to use them.
Lynch Box Call... was my wife's grandfathers. He purchased it in 1958 and her grandmother gave it to me after his passing.
Used a slate call primarily this year if the birds were out of sight. Used a diaphragm call once they could see the blind.
Primary call is the A-Frame from Primos. It has the fang cut. Great range of calls. If I am just calling I will use my H.S Strut Lil Deuce with cherry striker.
I make the hen calls with my mouth. no call what so ever... . I tell you I get great results. I think mainly because I don't sound like the rest of you with store bought calls
I carry a wide range of mouth calls, slate the almighty and go to box call along with a gobble call I start with the box call cause of it's distance and range once I get a Response I switch to my call and walk them inn, USMC BOSTON ILL SEE YA TOMORROW BROTHER, SEMPER FI!!!
I carry a homemade box call, cabelas slate, and multiple mouth calls but in reality I almost primarily use my woodhaven combo cut. Ill use the box call on windy days and the slate when the birds don't like anything else. I know its good to use them all and be versatile but why change something that works great!
A old trusty box call that was the death of many birds as well as a new primos single side box, I can't get diaphragm calls to sound right and my slate call has the same prob lol
Rohm Brothers box, Close Calls tube and slate calls, Tom Teaser Butt Naked Hen & Cane Creeks CC Smoker diaphrams
I carry at least two slates, a glass, a box call, and multiple diaphragms. I use them all, but by far my favorite is the woodhaven red wasp diaphragm. I use a diaphragm 90% of the time, and the red wasp about 80% of that. Best sounding diaphragm I've ever heard. Puts a lot of birds on the ground.
I have a MAD slate that I like a lot. I also have a box call. I use the box call to start out and the slate once I see turkey.
