I finally got done with classes and things slowed down a bit so I got a chance to start on my homebrew trail camera. I am soldering together the control board from scratch with a kit that I bought from a homebrew master. Here's tonight's progress!
Nice! I could really see getting into the hobby of homebrews, but I'm pretty sure my wife would kill me
I also think that would be an awesome little hobby. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about electronics. I look forward to seeing some pics pretty soon though
Congrats and welcome to the addiction. Which camera are you going to use for your build? Blessings.........Pastorjim
Nice! You're doing it the extra hard way the first time:D It's addicting, that's for sure. Most commercial cams still don't touch their quality, especially at night. It's a good cold weather, dead of winter hobby for me. What kind of setup is it going to be? Case, batteries (external?), slave flash (?), etc.,?
I have a pelican 1060 case, I haven't decided on externals yet but as big as possible, they will most likely be 4 Nimh Cs or Ds. No slave flash for now, the P41 flash should be sufficient over a mineral site. I plan to try hydro dipping the case to make white Camo with spray paint. I love soldering the components on! I wish I could order 10 sets! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you're building your own board, you could easily hack the P41 yourself. It is very easy, not even any soldering involved. That was my first build as well and it's still going strong. Blessings........Pastorjim
My thoughts exactly. Hacking is pretty easy, especially if you're soldering components to a PCB. Although my P41s are hacked with the ribbon, not the stereo jack, so there was soldering involved.
Yeah I just haven't gotten to the hack yet but I'm excited! I would like to design my own board soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It helps that I'm an EE major or else I would be over my head too, I'm just getting started Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
