Kinda new to the plot stuff, so what am I suppose to do about all this grass shooting up through my clover...do I spray it ( Have some Arrest from WI coming in tomorrow) or do I just mow it....Need advice please... Thanks Creeks
It doesn't look too bad. I would try mowing first. Once mowed the clover should shade out most weeds. I never get too picky with grasses in my clover unless I see it to start taking over. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I would avoid using the herbicide if it's a new stand of clover. Give it some time and mow it as high as you can. Mowing will keep any broadleafs from establishing. It will not kill the grasses, and eventually they will need to be killed off with the Herbicide. Mow it at 4-6" would be best. This fall, you could spray it with the arrest to help kill the grasses. Make sure you add a crop oil or a surfactant to the Arrest to help it stick to the grasses. From my experience, the second year is when my clover really takes off. I don't want to stress it with the herbicide and crop oil before then.
This is the 2nd year of the clover, but from what everyone is saying Mowing is best......I did order the oil to go with the arrest...So I'll just wait on spraying it.....Oh, if I spray it this fall, will that have a adverse effect on the deer, will they still hit it, or will the smell of the herbicide keep them away...I don't won't that to happen....LOL Creeks!
