Hey guys this Friday I'm going turkey hunting for the first time and have a question about it, I don't have a blind so I have two choices I can sit at the bottom of a tree or I the one I like better I can sit in my buddy stand, my question is what does everyone think of sitting in a stand to hunt turkeys I never hear anyone talking about it so I just figure nobody does it. So what do you guys think about sitting in a stand to hunt or if you have a better idea I'm all ears thank you

I would Sit on the ground. Turkeys will pick you out of a tree from a mile away good luck

Either way is pretty tough. It can be done but without a blind the turkey's odds are increased.

Imo tree is out of the question, they will pick you off all day long in a tree! I have killed around 9 birds from the ground with no blind. The key is don't get right on the edge if hunting a field, get back 5-10 yards where it's a little more shodowy! Have a good background behind you not open. I love leafy suit for this! Hopefully the birds will be distracted by the deaks! I have resorted to a pop up blind for filming, I don't like them but easier to film from

If you have evergreens where you have see turkeys that would be my choice from the ground cuts your visibility but I tagged out this you from sitting in one. just do minimal trimming to get a little visibility

In PA building grounds blinds from natural materials for spring gobbler is illegal. A blind for turkey also has to have 4 sides and a roof. I do not know if any other state is like this, but look into it before you make anything.

Turkey hunting is an addiction for me. I just love the challenge of trying to call the birds to me. That being said I would definitely not sit in a tree stand. I personally like to be mobile and use more of a run and gun type of method than using any type of blind, matter of fact I have never hunted turkey from a blind. I hunt in heavily timbered steep mountains with very few fields so we have to go where the birds are and that normally entails a lot of hiking and following the gobbles. When a bird is coming I have found movement to be the key. If you are remain still they normally will not pick you out, slow and steady movement such as moving your gun to target I have not had a problem with but anything quick or jerky and the game is up. Good luck and I hope you bag a bigun.
