Have any of you had any luck?

This is the first year with our own property. It was invaded by the things. I am moving horses to the property this summer, so trying to get rid of them so I don't have a horse break a leg.

    So far I'm 2 for 2. Got both with a 17HMR.

They are all over our place in Indiana. They have tunneled under barns and a couple old tool sheds. We keep a rifle right by the door in the summer just in case we see one of them out feeding in the fields. Haven't had any luck this year but I took out 4 last year.

My caliber of choice is a .220 Swift

That's what I use, mines a. Marlin. Great gun for ground hogs, but not so good if there's wind - lots of drift.

You can kill them if they are being a major nuisance. But that's it.

Wow, I've never heard of groundhogs being completely protected.

Tangent: No woodchucks out here. We have rockchucks but they're hard to find. They'll whistle at you and then hide in the rocks. Then there are rock squirrels. They're about fox squirrel sized but are ground squirrels. Quite a few different types of ground squirrels. There are these little ground squirrels called potguts out here. Real nuisance in areas. Farmers love if you come shoot them. We're over 800 potguts for the year on three fields. (We count confirmed hits only.) Probably haven't made a dent yet. We use .22lr on them, they're small. It's oodles of rednecky fun.

I used to shoot groundhogs with arrows for fun in IL. If I was trying to get rid of them, I used traps. Good luck!

I honestly don't think I've ever even seen one... I've shot a few rock chucks and a semi-load of prairie dogs though :D

I got this one the other day - he was big. I could never imagine getting 40 a year though, wow! My in-laws make roasts with them. They could have a year supply if that was the case!

Just got number 2 yesterday and number 3 today. Nothing long range yet but you take out every one you can.

    Nice. Video, too?

I saw another out back as it was getting dark. I'll be after him this weekend.
