Yeah, I wish I could have been in the stand but I don't have the bow attachment for my light and there would be no way for me to hold the light, draw and shoot - therefore, I figured if I sat on the ground, I could balance the light between my legs while sitting and make the shot but nothing came in.
Have you had any luck with this technique in the past? Seems pretty difficult to me but then again I can't even call them in and make a shot with a gun so...
Hunting yotes in general doesn't work for me haha but I will admit that I was being lazy the night this picture was taken..I just got off work, it was hot, I wasn't wearing a jacket or face mask, etc..Anyways, I got a Foxpro Hellfire for Christmas this past year and chose the 75 preloaded sounds I wanted from allpredatorcalls.com, went out Christmas afternoon and on my very first sit, 20 seconds in, I had one at 25 yards. I was not expecting it to be nearly that fast and he got away. Since then, I haven't called any in (that I know of). I got the red Wicked Light 402zf about a month ago so I could try at night but still haven't had any luck. However, that light is BRIGHT - I mean like see deer across a 400 yard field, bright. None the less, they didn't get the name "Wile e Coyote" for nothing
Sounds like you've got the setup! All i'm lacking is the call....but they aren't cheap haha Only way I can keep the predator population at bay on our farm is by trapping. Keep on trying, you'll connect with one sooner or later! Do yourself a favor and tan the hide too! I just finished my first coyote hide, feels and looks awesome!
I've got a FoxPro spitfire. Got it used for $45 shipped. You can definitely find good deals and FoxPro CS is top notch!
Oh yeah, I definitely will. I don't know anyone that coyote hunts so I'm having to learn it on my own..but like many things before, like shooting a bow..I taught myself and went on to win a state championship the following year. I just know I will kill him when I least expect it and he will be worth it
That's usually how it goes, they always pop up when you least expect it. If you ever need some more fields to coyote hunt in or need someone to help call them in, let me know. I'm not to far from ya. I'm also in NCSU with ya, just in the Electrical Engineering school.
