Today I was out freshening mineral sites and moving a couple of cameras and checked a few dead elms looking for morels. It is a little early here and they haven't started to pop yet. When I walked up on this dead elm and looked I noticed this timber rattler just 2 feet away. Pretty happy there were no morels there for me to reach for.
I speak from experience. Timber rattlers really ****ing suck! Only snake chaps and 10 inch leather boots in that area for me now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm siding with Tom. Sort of. I'll take rattlesnakes over wolves any day. This rattler is from this year already. It was in a bad area, with a bad attitude so I killed it. I shot it right before my dog ran up to it. Our rattlesnakes aren't as pretty as your timber rattlers. Oh, and go Blackhawks!
Never seen any in my area and hope never to. I know they've got them along the Minnesota though not far from us.
Rattlesnakes are sort of protected in Utah too. You can only kill them if you feel they present a safety hazard. Most folks around here think every single one is a hazard. Lol. This is the first one I've killed. K killed one last year. All the others we've let live. There are lots of them. Probably more rattlers than people in this county.
