Well most of my early season scouting is finally done and I've got a huge chunk of work done on the new hunting properties. Now I'm starting to think about fishing......... Woke up Saturday morning to the sound of bass boats screaming by the house on the river. I decided it was time to get the boat out, burn off the fogging oil on the hose, and give her a once over to get ready for the water. Decided to drop her off at the Marina for new bunk boards and fresh carpet on the inside of the fenders, and I'm hoping to have her back and ready to hit Lake Geneva by the weekend. Anyone else fishing? Any good fishing reports to share?
You truly are a FIB now Matt heading to Geneva. :p The Wisconsin fishing opener is this weekend. I'll head heading out a few times for sure
Was absolutely killing white bass on the Illinois for the last few weeks on jerkbaits and rat'l traps. Went south this past weekend. Crab Orchard on Saturday and got skunked before a storm blew us out. Hit Egypt on Sunday and told my buddy if we got sun we would hammer them. Struggled hard for the first 2 hours and around 10:30 the sun came out and I started smoking them. Put roughly 15 pounds in the Ranger with my top 5,, but unfortunately had to head home at noon. Was well on my way to having my best day on that particular lake. It figures I'll be on shift all of May, so I doubt the boat sees much more use.
By fishing you mean drinking beer on a nice warm day with a pole in my hand by a body of water nope not yet
I've got new line on all my reels and just waiting for one of my buddies with a boat to give me a call and say they want company I might also try to sneak down to Kentucky to fish with my dad and his best friend next weekend if I can swing it.
I've been wanting to hit up Egypt but haven't had the time to yet. Hopefully I'll make it over there sometime soon.
Did a little trout fishing already and went out Saturday afternoon for some bass fishing. It was pretty cold so I didn't stay out too long. Both me and my buddy caught a bass. Don't have a fancy boat or a fish finder - just a canoe and some luck. Once the fly pole is repaired I will be focusing on that for the most part. Also, I'm going to try my hand at crappie fishing.
Since I got my bigger boat and can't go to Newton anymore, it has become my favorite lake in Illinois.
Heard back from the marina that they are waiting on parts and I may not get it back in time for this weekend. If not this weekend we will get out this year for sure.
I've been fishing every day I've had off for the last month. We have caught some hogs so far! Sight fishing had been good here the last few weeks. They are almost done spawning now. I've got the kayak loaded up heading to a major small mouth river in the morning. Hoping for a good day.
I have the ascend fs12t from bass pro. Its an entry level model. It's served me well so far. I will be buying the new wilderness systems next month.
Been out a few times, been a little slow for me. I don't have a kayak - although I've considered buying one the past few years. I do the majority of my fishing in creeks in Indiana. This time of year obviously walking along the side of the bank. But when it warms up in a month or so will go wading. Love catching Smallies in the creek. Have been out a few times on some private lakes and will get up to the parents lake house in Kendleville, IN the first weekend in June.
Just been fishing in ponds around me and at the golf course by my house. We had such a late winter which caused the rivers to stay high and muddy until recently. I'll be taking my kayak out sooner than later to chase smallmouth with my fly rod. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've gone out a handful of times trout fishing this year. Hoping to get some more pan fish fishing in this summer. Love to fish, but wont eat it. Good thing I have an ever eating family.
