Just as an interest to see the responses and spark conversation. Since hunting season is over and the warm weather is finally hear.. what other hobbies does everyone enjoy while waiting for hunting season to start again? Myself, I shoot my bow year round and go to a few 3-D shoots each month, so I am always enjoying archery.. However, I also greatly enjoy riding my Harley with my club brothers/sisters. We are blessed to have many beautiful back roads, here in Maryland. We will ride all over, including into PA, DE, VA, WV, ect.. just to explore and see where the road takes us. While we ride year round, between hunting season and just too darn cold, the riding really slows down in the colder months for me. My club does a fund raiser for charity each year, called "Spring Fling" which usually ends up being about 200-250 bikes.. what a sight to see!
I enjoy golfing on the weekends when it gets nice here in IL. That is really my only non hunting related interest of note. Seems like all of my other interests in the off season still tie into hunting.
Ice fishing during the winter months. Fantasy sports. I play fantasy baseball, football, and basketball. Currently in 4 fantasy baseball leagues and I also play in daily fantasy games. Camp a lot in the summer months. Don't have many other hobbies than that.
During the summer months I enjoy riding as well though I dont usually ride the group rides as much. I alwys feel more comfortable riding either alone or with a close friend or 2. I also enjoy fishing along with working out doors landscaping either my place or my kids places as well.
Little open water fishing and bow fishing and a lot of ice fishing. Other than that, about all I do besides work is hunt and drink beer.
I like to garden, veggies not flowers. We like to put up some of the veggies we raise and there is nothing like fresh stuff out of the garden. I also work my butt of during the summer trying to get ahead so that I can take off as much time as I can during season. And I'm always working on something for hunting season.
Is beer a hobby? I enjoy the lakes during the Summer, I fish a bit almost year round, some golf, spend time with family and friends
Who has time for other interest My daughter plays travel softball and I coach it so I don't have time for much else.
Two seasonal businesses, I don't have a lot of time for hobbies like hunting. I pay myself back during hunting season though. Golf, SU lacrosse, Yankee baseball, try to get our fishing as much as I can, camping once a year (would love to go more, but can't make the time). Sunday afternoons for a few hours is kind of my time to chill. I love nothing more to plop in the middle of the lake on the boat, have a few beers and unwind.
fishing... gym... I spend the majority of my summer coaching my daughters' softball teams... house league and travel ball.
Who said hunting season is over? Our Turkey season starts in 2 days :D I enjoy archery all year round, photography, field training with our Golden, pretty much anything outdoors (hiking, camping, biking, fishing, paddleboarding, ...) other than that I just love spending time with my boyfriend, friends and family.
There is almost always something to shoot out here. Right now we're trying help out some farmer/ranchers with their ground squirrels infestation. (potguts) we've killed about 700 so far and haven't made much of a dent. Turkey season opens next month. There's bowfishing. Jackrabbits, coyotes.. I hike around in the mountains a couple times a week. I have a good sized garden, a dozen laying hens and will be getting 50 meat chicks this week. We're fairly active in our church too. Some days we just drive the atvs or jeep out on the trails. Sometimes I work. Lol!
I will soon be getting drug around by my deck mower, mowing the 3 acres of lawn wouldn't be bad it's the other 4 acres of pasture that make it a job. The deer are loving the fresh sweet grass in the pasture.
We have our turkey season going right now. Coaching my son's T-ball team. Bass fishing from a kayak is a blast, I try to do that as much as possible. We have a new lab I have been training. I recently bought some little chicks and built them a coop. Always have my little garden. On top of all the we are thinking about buying 6 acres and cleaning it up to resale(price is right to buy).
I work out for at least an hour every day except Saturday year round. Enjoy anything outdoors really. Hiking camping mtn biking kayaking skiing. While living down south I love hitting up the lakes on the weekend. I enjoy college football games when there's not much else to do and rarely miss a UK basketball game. I hunt hard every spring and fall and just enjoy hanging out with friends and beer during the winter and summer months.
I spend all my free time on my Goldwing.. I am into the long distance riding, better known as Iron Butt Rides. Last year I got into riding the Tour Of Honor. I really enjoy riding to all the memorials.
Wildlife photography (mostly snakes) and anything outdoors with the family. Can't forget NBA playoffs!
