I am going back and forth between 2 arrows for a multi species hunting arrow. I am shooting a Bowtech RPM 360, with a 29" DL and a 67# DW.
    The choices are:
Easton Axis 340 spine cut to 27 inches with a 75 grain insert and 125 grain BH. Total arrow weight would be 495 grains, and have a FOC of 16%.
Gold Tip Pro Hunter 300 spine cut to 28 inches with an 80 grain insert with a 100 grain BH. Total arrow weight would be 490 grains, and have a FOC of 13%.

So, which would you choose to shoot? Thanks for the help.

I am assuming your using the deep six hits in the axis, if that's the case I would pass on them. I can't stand the thin ferrule on deep six heads. I have seen too many break at the ferrule thread junction.

Now all that said I like the smaller diameter shaft in the axis vs the GT Pro Hunters.

I think a better comparison is the Axis vs GT Kinetics.

    I would go ... 27" kinetic 340 (9.9 going x 27") 75 grain hits, 15 grain ballistic collar, and then either 100 or 125 heads... So a finished weight 485-510

What're you going to be hunting? I think I'd do the axis with the smaller diameter and higher foc

trial 153, they would not be the deep six insert. It would be a HIT 75 grain brass insert. Dave, mostly deer, but I am planning a hog hunt, as well as, other big game hunt.(ie. moose, elk, etc.) Again, thank for the help.

Then I would go with the Axis providing I either bought or build footings for them.
    I wouldn't use HITs without a footing.

Between the choices you put up I would say the Axis.

I shoot axis and love them. Trial, since the axis and kinetics are the same diameter could you use the ballistic collars on an axis?

Yes, however the collars VPA( Ray) is making are nicer. He has two models, the first that will go over a halfout like the BEA and the second that has a flange and is used with HITS.

I just built a half dozen each in BEA rampages ....I can't decide what I like better there SS half out or the HITs ...the collars make them both bullet prof

He says he is some, I am going to give him a call this week and grab and dozen each. When I get them I will posts up some pictures.
He said he was making two sizes as well, so getting them to fit nice and tight shouldn't be as problem.

Are you Looking to use them with HITS?

I would say, if you have them both, shoot them both and see what is giving you better groups and more importantly.. better penetration. It can never hurt to have higher KE on any game animal and I would try for whatever is "punching thru" the game I am hunting.

Outside of that, I don't know much about either arrow, so couldn't give you an opinion. I use Carbon Express Maxima Red Streak and love them.. but they are on the higher end for price on hunting arrows.

Personally I don't think there is a better hunting arrow made than the Easton Axis. I'm on my 4th different bow in the last 6 years....but all 4 have had axis
    340s in the quiver.

I have used CX Max Hunters, GT Velocity Pro, Eason FMJ and Axis. I would use the Axis. Your pick is very close to what I use the last few years. Just put some FlexFletch FFP-360 vanes on the Axis and you will be very happy.

Ok I just placed an order.

Bought two dozen of the adapter/ footings to use with HITS. Got a dozen each in size 340 and 300.

These will work with HIT and they not only act as footing, they take the place of the BAR. They have a flange that hold the footing in place via that broad head. The footing then tappers down to the shaft .
I will post up pictures when they come in.
