Just upgraded from my 2006 Bear Instinct to a 2013 bear Method... I'm relatively new to bow hunting (3rd year) and feel that my knowledge of arrows and how they work best with specific bows is lacking - So I ask for your help/recommendations. What arrow setup would you go with, if you were using the below set up... Throw in broad head if you like: 2013 Bear Method Bow specs: Brace Height 6.75" Axle to Axle Length 33" Draw Length 27.5 Draw Weight 60lbs IBO Speed 340 fps Trophy Ridge Cypher 3 Pin Trophy Ridge Revolution 2.0 (containment drop away rest)
I have a similar setup on my bear bow. My arrows are set up 300 spine Easton axis then I use brass inserts. Adds weight to the front. Helped with my accuracy. Schwacker 100 grain broadheads. Total weight a little over 500 grain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'll just do a pretty standard whitetail set up. I'd cut my arrows at 27, shoot for a light GPI arrow with brass inserts for higher FOC and a total weight between 400-450. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is for a gold tip velocity 340 spine. 50 grain aluminum insert, 125 grain head. Cut to 27 inches. 423 grain total weight. 17% FOC Edit. Didn't know the weight of GT nocks so used 9 in my calculations here is the updated version. 426 grains 16.69% FOC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Going to sound like a noob, but I just want to learn. What makes you guys decide on what you recommended. What can I look for in a simple whitetail arrow? For me FOC is a great way to cheat. I can make a medium weight arrow perform like a heavy arrow when I start getting near the 20% mark. All that with the added benefit of the increased stability and steering high FOC affords.

I'm currently shooting GT Hunter XT 340's with 100gr tips/heads... I should be fine with cutting them to 27", adding the insert, and switching to a 125gr head, correct?

Fact weights are screwed into the back of the GT inserts. So for example you'd like to add 150 grains total up front. Let's say you using a 100 grain broad head, you can 50 grains extra to get to 150 grains up front.
Both these guys advice is great! I use the FACT weight system and they are accepted in all of Gold Tips inserts...If you get the FACT Weight System wrench also you can add and remove weights from your inserts from the nock end of your arrow if need be. If you change your broadhead weight or want to adjust your FOC. Its a great little system. I am very pleased with it. I shoot Gold Tip Kinetics @ 490gr total weight with about 160gr upfront and keep my FOC in the 12.5% to 12.6% range with both 100gr and 125gr heads with the FACT Weight System. Can always add more to if I want, but thats plenty for me cause they shoot great and hit hard!
