Only a matter of time before they pop up around my area. We had a ton of forest fires last yr so it'll be great. Morels are awesome!

A friend found about a dozen here today on the ranch. I've kept my eyes open for them when doing chores but have not done any walking around actually hunting them yet. We need a bit of rain before they'll pop good here I imagine. Getting to be that time though.

My brothers and some buddies destroyed them today. They didn't count them, but they were guesstimating that they picked approximately 1000 today. They sent me some pics and it looked like an awesome time.

I've never seen anyone looking for them until this year, never even heard of them. Why does everyone like hunting them so much? --not trying to be a smart a**, I just don't know anything about them

One of the tastiest of the wild mushrooms IMO just a shame there aren't more edible mushrooms where I live.... To dry but we do have nopales (cactus) very yummy when prepped right :)

Because they're a natural delicacy. They are also just part of our culture here, like deer and turkey and shed hunting.

I've never heard anyone in central NC talk about them either. My family in southeastern Ohio is who I learned about them from. Morels are a delicacy!! Every spring we would hunt for them, then fry them up. They are GOOD.

I'm not sure how plentiful they are in central NC (I've never found any on our farm here) but I suspect that folks closer to our mountains hunt them.
