I just don't get it. How do you end up with oddball/unmatched socks when you do laundry? Stands to reason if you put a pair of socks in the washer, a pair of socks should come out of the dryer? Where does the one sock go? I have 3 unpaired socks right now and it's driving me and my OCD insane!!! I can see the occasional one that for whatever reason didn't make it to the washing machine with it's friend. Ok ... I can accept that. But on the next load, or when the laundry is done and spoken for, shouldn't it at that point have been rectified? I need answers! What the heck happens? Not like you mistakenly throw a random sock in the garbage! #$@$%#$^@#^@^

It has gone from socks to entire t-shirts and even hoodies at my house. I put it in the laundry basket and POOF. Never to be seen again. Weirdest damn thing. And of course the maid swears she knows nothing...... WTH Maybe the random lost socks have paired together with my hoodie to form an outfit?

Only one option. Throw away all your socks and buy 20 pair of the same socks. Your ocd will love you dearly.

HA! I have an orphaned sock pile right now that I tried to resolve on Sunday when I was doing laundry with no luck. We don't even have a dog to blame. One of life's cruel mysteries. Kind of like the word "lisp" having an "s" in it.

My coworker got me 20 socks that were all different. I love when those are in the laundry, don't have to worry about pairing them up!

But, did you check the sock monster behind the washer? Sometimes they will fork them up, other times they take them back to the sock party.

I just throw them away... it used to annoy me to no end as well, I just toss them immediately when I come up with a single sock now.

What if you end up finding the other one? Would that drive you equally as crazy?

Nah I just chuck it as well at that point. Socks are like $10 for 8 pairs, I don't sweat it.

I actually got really excited when I read this. I thought this HAD to be the answer. Jumped away from my desk and ran to check. Nothing but dust lol. Good thought though.

^^^^^ this. My every day socks are exactly the same. So the most I ever have is one odd sock. Actually two, I wear different type of socks for running.

My husband's socks are all identical, except for some wool socks he wears for hunting.
