^^ that is a good set up. I'm shooting a CVA Hunterbolt, 100gr of 777, 245 gr Hornady SST // If I were doing it all over again I'd be shooting the optima too.
I take it your are asking about ML rifle. What are you wanting to hunt? After wearing out a number of Spanish made ML, I'm now a TOTAL TC fan, I have a TC: 45 cal Patriot pistol, 32 cal, 54 cal and 12ga all traditional style MLs. Plus, I'm a traditional all the way and use REAL blackpowder too. Good luck, MOBU
Whitetail is what I'll be hunting never went muzzleloading. I've been told the vortex traditions and the tc.
I have a cheap inline, a Traditions Pursuit. It hasn't let me down but I haven't gun hunted in a few years, I'm all bow hunter now.
TC Encore, Cabelas Powderhorn EXT scope, I think I use the TC Shockwave Max Express Sabots. Shooting deer at 250 yds with this setup.
Knight LRH, Knight MK85 and Knight Wolverine. All in .50 cal. They all drive tacks with the right loads. They are a lot of fun and a great way to enjoy deer hunting.
CVA Accura MR with Blackhorn breech plug, 110 grs Blackhorn 209, 250 gr Powerbelt AeroLite, Bushnell Trophy XLT ML scope. This combo shoots just over 1" groups at 100 yards and about 3" at 200 yards. Took 4 deer with it the first year I used it...2 DOA and 2 ran less than 60 yards. Longest kill shot so far is 187 yards.
Allen Thurber, caplock, .45 cal w/roundball, open sites CVA Buckhorn, caplock, .50 cal w/roundball, open sites Navy Colt replica, .44 cal w/roundball, open sites all traditional... tho I have moved to pryodex for ease of cleaning... BTW, that roundball will drop a deer just as fast as a maxi or powerbelt... and a lot cheeper with 3 inch groups at 100 yards with open sites
CVA accura v2. I put a blackhorn breech plug in it and use blackhorn powder to push 290 gr Barnes Spit-fire T-ez bullets. I only hunted three days with it and it remains untested on game but it is impressive on paper.
TC Triumph .50, Bushnell trophyxlt doa 3-9x40 scope, 250gr. TC shockwave bullet, 120gr. Loose 777 powder. Shoots 1" 3 shot groups at 100yds. Have killed 3 deer over 200yds with it
Thanks guys went to cableas today in Kansas City and brought the traditions vortex with the Nikon bdc scope combo.
