I ordered some arrows recently and had them cut to length but didn't have inserts put in a d they should arrive today some time. What are you guys using for a good insert glue?
I used to use that Bohning low temp hot melt glue because it made making changes easier. But I had a couple pull out in targets so I switched to 2 part epoxy for inserts.
I have used plain old Loc-Tite gel, the high impact stuff, with great results. I never had one come out with it. The bugger is removing them as I've split a couple of shafts trying to get them out. I'm going to try the low temp hot melt on my newest batch of arrows to see how well I like it. The key with any glue is to make sure you prep the shafts and inserts well. I use a rifle bore brush that fits snuggly in the shafts to scrub and scuff up the inside. I then use a piece of sandpaper to scuff the inserts. Scrub both the inside of the shaft and insert with denatured alcohol and glue the inserts in.
I started using hot glue sticks. Its working so far. I have just under 3 dozen shots in them and still holding strong.
hot glue.... holds good, and if you have to turn them to align broadheads, you can do it easily... just be careful not to get the carbon shaft of the arrow too hot when heating the glue for adjustments... will destroy the arrow
