Hey guys looking for some help. In setting up a kill plot 100 yards away from my 4acre food plot. My questioning was if plants like radishes and turnips are decent for low light situations. I'm clearing about 1/4 of an acre for this little plot and wasn't sure what to plant. I'm doing a clover mix in the big plot and trying to plant something hearty in the kill plot. It'll get a good 6 hrs of sunlight a day. Any suggestions help
Try this thread in the Food Plot and Habitat Improvement section, the fella's there will be able to answer your questions better. 6 hrs of sunlight a day is plenty of light to grow clover/oats. I also planted a brassica's plot (mostly turnips and radishes) this past year in the middle of a thicket and woods. I'd guesstimate that it had 6 hours or less of sunlight each day (and less than that as winter came). It did excellent. here's the link of our plot, from start to finish. You can see a trail cam picture of how the brassicas turned out. http://forums.bowhunting.com/trail-cameras/70194-birth-honey-hole.html
Um....you already have a thread for this in the proper spot here http://forums.bowhunting.com/food-p...-food-plot-middle-woods-need-suggestions.html
I tried the Secret Spot this past season and the deer didn told seem all that interested. It grew very well and got nice and green but the deer mostly passed through it. It was my first time trying any plots so maybe I didn't do something right. I also mixed in somImperial Bowstand so that nay have hurt as well. I was thinking turnips and radish this year as well for me, so I will be curious yo see all the responses.
UM..... I made this one first then posted it in the right spot. Please look at the dates before criticism is given
Um...sorry :D Unlike most people new you did correct yourself "applause" Mods...I'd close this one as it is un-needed.
We have a spot just like what your talking about. We have planted shot plot in there. I would recommend soil test, planting early, and fertilizer. BTW even though we use **** plot a lot the best stuff we have ever used is big and beasty
