Was hunting mushrooms yesterday and this caught my eye. Went to investigate and found this huge rub. Turns out there is a small 3-4 foot wide bench/maybe old road that dissects the hillside that has a decent trail, a solid rub line with this big guy, and a few scrapes. All the rubs were sizeable, but this was the king on this young poplar tree. Located a tree about 15yards up hill that will keep my scent off the trail with a N/NW wind. Hopefully I get glimpse at who did this... >>----------->
Yes, up wind/down hill from the trail the rub line was on. The thermals and prevailing winds down there would make that trail hard to hunt, but the trail above it where the rub line is located seems like a travel route bucks will use that allows them to stay in the thick stuff while being able to scent the trail below. Should be a good set up for late October, early November.
