There were similar heads available in the 1970's I remember making some with a field point and stiff wire then I was a teenager. I couldn't afford fancy stuff like that. Hunted groused with them......got very few.

Birds. I went on a pheasant hunt one year with recurves and used these. It was fun.

I take it that the hoops/loops tangle up the bird to keep it from flying?

Any videos of these in action?

It sounds interesting to try this fall.

    How do you make them?

It looks interesting, never seen one though. Is it supposed to be better than just plain wires?

    Thanks Coop!

I still don't get it.... What function does the wire hoops play? Is it to increase your chances of hitting the bird, and if you miss to find your arrow?

In a comparison to firearms, the arrows with hoops are like a shotshell and a regular arrow is a slug/bullet?

    Thanks!

Technically they claim to tangle in the bird's feathers making it difficult to fly. But we had several still fly after being hit the hunt I was on.

It is really just to prevent arrow loss more than anything. It is not really a Snaro head, more of a judo and is made with string trimmer line. You can also clip the line and have straight prongs instead of hoops.
