There is a ton of public land by Sparta. Fort McCoy has some openings I would look into. You can leave a stand on public at your own risk.Wisconsin has some of the best public land for deer hunting, use maps google earth and state dnr sites to find the land.

If I lived that close to Fort McCoy I would hunt that, I know a few people that pulled out some huge bucks out of there. If you are fishing for someone to give up their spot good luck.

I am not familiar with Wisconsin myself but my dad and brother head over there and hunt on public land right on Lake Superior. They do quite well there.

I turkey hunt Adams County using this map. http://dnrmaps.wi.gov/opfl/

I did find out it may not be up to date. I always call the land owner to make sure, unless it is paper company land. Calling the owner has got me on some land that is not listed on the map too. You cross check with your county's GIS to see if the land your are looking at is MFLO.

If I'm right I believe it's illegal to leave your stand in the woods but I could be wrong.
