I plan on posting a full review once I have had more time but wanted to mention this. Anyone that says the NO CAM is slow has never shot one. Straight from the dealer out of the box the bow was drawing 66 lbs. At that 66 lbs draw weight and a draw length of 27" I was shooting a 350 grain Carbon Express Maxima 250 arrow 281 fps. Not a scorching 350 IBO you might see in some bows but by no means is that a slow bow in my opinion. It is definitely fast enough to smoke a few whitetails and hogs and I intend to prove that this year. :p
Not bad numbers at all. Especially when you consider that the HTR is really just a wheely bow from years past. This system intrigues me and I'll be anxious to see what they as well as other companies do in the future.
Congrats on getting the HTR. For me it's not just the smoothness of the bow, but it's accuracy that's outstanding.
My old martin could do that....with a 365 grain arrow. I forget you guys tend to hunt only north american game...im not taking my htr to africa nor australia
What about South America? Do you think you'd need a faster bow to take down a Grizzly Bear or a Cape Buffalo? I ask because I don't know. Do you need a bow with an 80# draw that shoots 350fps? People have taken large animals long before there were compound bows or carbon arrows.
I shot the htr a couple weeks ago. Couldn't believe they had a lefty in stock. 70# 29". Fit perfect. Wasn't impressed, or I'll say familiar with the draw cycle. I could get used to it. But after I let that bow go, I forgot all about the draw. So quiet and smooth. No vibes, balanced well. Impressive piece of equipment. And that's comin from a speed bow shooter. chadrap, that's the thing about the HTR. Once you release the arrow it's just really cool. I can hold the bow on target thru my shot with ease.
Just checked to be sure they say 85%. The holding weight at the draw id about the same as my Chill X. I was expecting 265 to 270 so I was surprised at 280 to say the least.
I would not hesitate to shoot a red deer with the HTR. Granted I would definitely shoot a heavier arrow. For Africa I would take the MR6 with a good cut on contact. My point of the post was to de-bunk the opinions of people that the No Cam is slow. Granted the chrono has not been measured for accuracy but from previous experience it is close. Also consider that the Switchback was argueably one o the best bows Mathews made. The IBO rating for that was 318. Just saying.
copperhead, my last bow before the NO Cam was a Switchback, which for its time was pretty nice. Compared to the HTR the Switchback shook like a tuning fork. The HTR is an overall much better bow.
I shot it before i bought my hoyt cs turbo. And yeah def not for me. Mushy back wall, slow, heavy, and o yeah the ugliest bow ive ever seen.
wi p&y, I like your attitude sir. I think the HTR has a real solid back wall, it IMO just has a completely different feel than does the Hoyt CS. Of course the Hoyt is lighter because it's made out of carbon fibre as opposed to the aluminium riser of the NO Cam, and it's only slower by a few fps depending on how it's setup. It definitely caught my eye at the pro shop, but I didn't buy one because my girlfriend said the CS's riser was weird and fuggly.
