It's that time of year, time for high priced veterans to get inflated contracts with other teams. The first one came today; http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000474978/article/josh-mccown-cleveland-browns-reach-3year-deal Josh McCown gets a 3 year $15 million deal with the Browns. This is hard for me to comprehend, why choose him over Brian Hoyer, who has a 10-6 record? Apparently they also don't think Manziel is the answer either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I saw that yesterday. It just don't understand what the thinking is here. They are basically admitting that they wasted their first round pick last year, which it appears they have. I wonder how this is going to play out. McCown starts and Hoyer is the back up. Let Hoyer go, McCown starts and Manzial is the backup. Hoyer starts and McCown is the backup to me makes the most sense but they are paying McCown. Hoyer is a free agent he's gone if they don't pay him. What are they going to do with Manzial? Just a mess.
Free agent season for me as a Packer fan is a slow time of year, it seems like that is when Ted Thompson goes on vacation. I am sad to see AJ Hawk go he was the last of the members of the Packers I met at football camps back when I was involved in coaching. I met him when he was a rookie and it was funny to watch him around young kids, he seemed shy and nervous but a very nice man. It does look unavoidable for Ted this off season he is going to have to sign some outside free agents, they have plenty of cap space even if they resign Cobb.
Adam Schefter: Patriots sense Darrelle Revis is headed to Jets The St. Louis Rams are close to trading quarterback Sam Bradford to the Philadelphia Eagles for quarterback Nick Foles, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks have agreed on a trade sending Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham to Seattle for multiple draft picks and center Max Unger, according to league sources. The Detroit Lions have found their replacement for Ndamukong Suh, acquiring nose tackle Haloti Ngata in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday. Shane Vareen to Giants Owen Daniels to Broncos Frank Gore and Andre Johnson likely going to Colts
What a crazy free agency. A lot of big name trades and signings. So much for the Eagles trading up for Mariotta. Andrew Luck to Hilton and now Johnson? With Gore running the ball? Wow. Still doesn't do anything for their defense, but that is going to be some offense. Still awaiting what is going to happen with Murray.... oddly quiet.
This. Looks like Bradford may be trade bait to move up and grab Mariotta. Maybe Sam will end up with the Jets so he can throw to Marshall and Decker.
The only news I am hoping to not see is AP leaving Minnesota. The suspense is killing me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Bradford for foiles deal just blows me away. And trade bait, who the heck would want Bradford over foiles? Bradford cant stay healthy and I think foiles is every bit as good. And the money Bradford is owed doesn't make him good trade bait either. The saints letting graham go, that's big to.
As a Rams fan, I was very happy to hear about the Bradford deal, and I have been a supporter of the guy since he was drafted. He had almost zero chance under Spags with a rotating chair of OC's, and he was well on his way to a stellar season before he hurt his knee the 1st time. If he stays healthy, I have no doubt he'll succeed with pieces around him. I agree that Philly is still trying to pull a move to grab Mariotta, but if they don't Sammy B is reunited with Pat Schumer, whom he won a ROY with and was a game away from a playoff birth.
With the Jets owner saying he wants Revis multiple times when he was a member of the Patriots and rumors of the GM tampering I hope they take multiple picks away from them.
The Browns have expressed interest in Sam Bradford in the past, so I won't be surprised if the Eagles trade Bradford to the Browns to swap picks and then they (Eagles) will use some of their other picks to move up for Mariota.
Revis agrees to 5 year 70 million dollars, 39 of which is guaranteed. Epic http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...le-revis-new-york-jets-agree-to-terms-on-deal If he plays out this contract, he will have made over $155,000,000 in his career. Think about that for awhile. I'm just waiting for my Redskins and the worst owner in the league Dan Snyder to make some more greatly overpriced over the hill vet a huge offer that never pans out.
