I'll be packing 5 rods. Several of my friends who do tourneys pack around 20 but I ain't in that deep. I'll be taking:

    Baitcasters:
1- 6'10" Medium w/ 12 lb. flouro. (crankbaits, small spinner and buzz baits)
2- 7'0" Med.- Heavy w/ 12 lb. mono (soft plastics, swimbait, spinner and pretty much catch-alls for a lot of stuff)
1- 7'3" Heavy w/ 50 lb. braid (frogs and jigs)

    Spinner rod:
1- 7'0" Med.-Heavy w/ 20 lb. braid (just threw this together w/ spare parts yesterday. I'll find a pupose. Not big on spinning rods.)

Three rods are "13 Fishing" with Lews reels. The other two are Wal-Mart combos. Trying to improve my set-up every year. Can't wait for spring. Anyone have similar set-ups?

I use 3 rods, an 8' live bait/slip bobber set up, a softer jigging stick and a stiffer crank bait rod. I fish the Mississippi for smallmouth, nothing competitive but if you are in the boat with me deal with it I am catch more bigger fish.

Nice. There ain't much better than fishing for smallmouth on a river. Too bad for me, no rivers run through Indy.

Up here where I fish the Mississippi is shallow and rocky, not many people fish it because of the rocks. I love river fishing.

Cool. I love to see how many different ways people cover all their bases. You have them covered.

I normally just take three, one crankin stick for my crank baits, a med action for plastics and a 6' med action for some flipping. All are bass pro tourney specials with the bass pro qualifier reel. One of which is a high speed. I normally fish small lakes that don't allow gas motors. Have a small two person pond prowler

I just yesterday bought a st croix mojo bass, 6'8" medium action with extra fast tip spinning rod. Paired it with a pflueger president 35 reel. Just getting into more bass fishing this year now that the kids are getting older.

I'm not going into specs but I have a 2 spinning setups for panfish, 3 baitcasters and 1 spinning setups for bass and northern. I'll use 6lb nanofil with a 6lb flouro leader and 6lb mono for my panfish setups. 14lb mono, 17lb flouro, 30lb braid and 8lb braid with 6lb flouro leader for my bass/northern setups.

Do what!? We love to hit blue river Sundays after church.

Yeah Yeah, blue river isn't that big. Isn't the white river over by your guys?
I've love to hit the ohio but I don't have a boat big enough.

Lews Froggin Rod w/Abu Reel - Hoping to start catching the top water bass with some frogs
St.Croix Crankbait w/Lews Reel - Going to target the deeper bass this year with deep diving cranks
Gloomis Rod w/Daiwa Reel- Drop Shots and Tubes ( Hoping for my first successful smallie trip on St.Clair or Erie)

As for Walleye, I am going to try casting for them this year. Hoping to place in a local tournament around June.

Find the rocks and you will find the smallmouth. That's is the thing I love about fishing the Mississippi you never know what you will catch. Bass, walleyes, northern, channel cats and even a carp on crankbaits.

I guess I should retract my first comment. I have caught a ton of rock bass but never large or small mouth. The best is when you're fishing for walleyes or catfish and catch crappies or even perch. The only kind of open water fishing I do is on river (cottonwood).

Anyone ever fish with swim baits? If so what is your setup and success rate?
