Alright guys I'm road tripping to PCB for spring break soon and we are looking for some cool places to stop on the way there and back. We are leaving from Champaign,IL and end up in PCB. If you guys could help with any spots that would be cool or fun to stop at that would be awesome.
Mammoth Cave is a neat stop in KY if you like the National Park type scene... Friday/Saturday night on Broadway in Nashville is always fun... But honestly, not a whole lot between IL and the Florida Panhandle worth spending much time to see. I'd rather spend more time in PCB personally.
once you get there go west on 30A towards rosemary beach, seagrove seaside and several other cute beach front communities.. I used to live in seagrove right on the beach....
Panama City Beach! I second Mammoth cave! Went there when I was really young, and recently took my kids through it, it's just amazing! The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville is also awesome, they have the Saturn 5 there and it will blow your mind just how large it is! They have it in like an exploded view and you can walk the whole 300 feet of the rocket and see how it all works. It's fantastic! Also in Alabama they have Cheaha mountain, it is really neat as well, highest point in the state of Alabama, and it has some fantastic views. EDIT: I forgot about Bankhead National Forest! It has some amazing waterfalls and springs, some nice short hiking trails too!
You need to drive to Destin when in panama and go to Krispie Creme when the red light is on. The best donuts you will ever have. I love Krispie Creme and there isn't a Krispie Creme anywhere near me.. Also there is this really great "mexican" restaurant in Panana too. Its not super authentic mexican food but its REALLY GOOD! Its called Tijuana Flats. Make sure to get there endless queso!
On the way down their you could spend a night on Beale Street but other then that I would just get down there and start the party. Now once your down there as long as everything goes to plan and you guys party like you should then I am gonna guess you won't really feel like doing much on the drive home. Maybe Google a few good places to eat along the way or something.
I kinda figured there wasn't much to see on the trip but we did think about stopping in Nashville for a little bit. I agree about just getting there and start drinking though. I know we will be doing plenty of that.
if you are going through Nashville and then nooga take side trip through Cades Cove not the best time of year to do it but should see lots of wild life.. Auto Tour | cades cove
